Mobile Mobile Home Movers is a referral service operated by R&S for people in Mobile and the towns around it. You call the number on this page, and we connect you with an independent local company that does the work and gives you its own quote. We are not a moving company, and nobody from Mobile Mobile Home Movers comes out to your home or land. Our service is free to you. The company we connect you with may pay us for the referral.

Who does the work?

The work is done by an independent local company, not by Mobile Mobile Home Movers. That company agrees on the price with you. Alabama's rule below says who may do any setup or tie-downs.

We do not supervise the work, and we are not a party to your agreement with the company. Any license, insurance or other detail about the company comes from the company itself.

Which jobs need a state-certified installer?

In Alabama, every manufactured home, new or used, must be installed by an installer certified by the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission. An owner may not install a home without that certification (Alabama Administrative Code 535-X-12). The same chapter counts locating, setting up, tying down and anchoring a home as installation, and it treats moving the home as a separate job. Setup and tie-downs therefore need a certified installer, who may be a different company from the one that hauls the home. If your job includes them, ask who will do each part, and ask the installer for its certification number and a written quote. The Commission has an online search where you can look up an installer, and its installer page explains the rules. For what a setup involves, see mobile home setup and installation.

How our pages are written

Pages on this site are researched from official and industry sources. For this site, that includes Alabama's state rules, the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission, the Alabama Department of Transportation and Mobile County offices. Each local fact is stored with its source and the date it was read, and a price appears only with its source and date. If a fact has no source, it stays off the page.

Before a page goes live, it passes automated checks and a page review. A fact check matches each number and rule on the page to its stored source. Then the owner of R&S approves the final version. Nothing is published without that approval.

Pages older than six months are checked again against fresh sources and updated when something has changed. The date at the bottom of the page shows the last update.

This site is set up for local moves in and around Mobile. Requests can be for a single-wide move or a double-wide move. They can also be for a setup on new land or for tie-down work. We take requests from these places:

  • Mobile County: Mobile, Prichard, Saraland and Satsuma.
  • Baldwin County: Daphne, Fairhope, Spanish Fort, Robertsdale and Bay Minette.

Both counties are named as a Hurricane Zone in Alabama's manufactured housing rules: an area of the state that has had sustained winds of 100 mph or more (Alabama Administrative Code 535-X-13). Homes set up in a Hurricane Zone must meet the Commission's anchoring standards for that zone. Ask the company who will anchor your home and how, and read about mobile home tie-downs before you compare quotes.
